Orange plant is a perennial crop.  The seeds are best planted between April and May in order for the seed to grow effectively. Orange tree can survive as long as 35 years. The maturity age of orange tree occurs between three(3) and seven(7) years. During harvesting of the fruits, it can be done using hand or knife carefully over a period of time.

There are some pests that affects orange tree and if nothing is done to prevent them,  they can attack the orange leaves, flowers and the fruits. Hence making the citrus tree incapable of producing fruits. Such pests are fruit borers, caterpillars, scale insects, red mites, leafhoppers and others. To control the above pests, it is adviced to spray insecticides like gammalin 20 and malathion on the plant.

Some common diseases of Orange such are gummosis, citrus scalp and tristeza.

Gummosis is caused by fungi which makes the orange scalp to dry and the leave to turn yellow or die mosttimes.

Cirrus scab is also a fungal Disease that attacks young leaves and stem especially in nursery stage.

Orange can be processed into orange juice which can be stored or put in a bottle form.
